My favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love The Nightmare Before Christmas for many reasons, starting with Jack Skellington the main character. The reason that Jack Skellington is my all time favorite movie character is because he is misunderstood by those around him. He has a curiosity and a longing for change, and although he goes about find the change he wants in the wrong way his character shows determination, leadership, and compassion for what he is doing. My favorite part and quote from the movie is "Curiosity killed the cat jack" (Dr.Finklestein). This quote speaks to as to be a warning and ironic at the same time. Jack messes up Christmas because he gets curios and carried away in his task, and is ironic in the fact that he is warning some one of death who is already dead. That is just some of the main points behind why I like The Nightmare Before Christmas so much.

While I have had many wonderful experiences in my life I can not pick any single one to be my favorite, so instead I will write about the first one that came to mind. When I was in 7th grade I met my would be best friend, he was from New Zealand. I continued to be and still am best friends with him, though in 8th grade he had to move back to New Zealand. I have kept in contact with him and continue to speak to him on a regular basis via Skype. Thankfully I was fortunate enough in that I was able to take a trip to New Zealand during winter break of my 9th grade year. While there I was able experience and view so many things. Among those was Scenery the likes of which I would have thought to come straight from a Sci-Fi movie, only difference was that this was no Sci-Fi movie this was real. I was able to run up the Steepest road in the Southern Hemisphere, looked at Yellow-eyed penguins, viewed and took photos of Franz Josef Glacier; I got to go into the spire of the Cathedral of Christchurch one month before the Cathedral collapsed during an earthquake, and so much more. Over all it was one of the most diverse places I have been and most beautiful country I have ever seen.

My favorite part about language arts is the freedom that comes with writing. The creativity running in every one, seeking to flow, for the flood gates of ones mind to open and spill out upon a page is truly a marvelous thing. The freedom in which one express themselves is what makes me appreciate language arts. I personally enjoy writing poem, though I hate reading them out loud, it is easy for me to write a poem and comes very naturally to me.

My least favorite part of language arts is the vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. I have always struggled with grammar and spelling, also I have a very small vocabulary. In addition I am a slow reader and sometimes struggle with mental blocks to come up with topics to write about (but who has not had those type of mental blocks before?).
